March 11, 2024
6pm at Town Hall

Caltrans District 11 Design and External Affairs Divisions will attend the Julian Community Planning meeting on March 11 to discuss a pavement rehabilitation and drainage system restoration project along State Route 78 that is proposed to include pedestrian improvements like new curb ramps and marked crosswalks. Similar pedestrian improvements with mobility and safety performance objectives have been proposed in the past with the community declining to implement them. Caltrans will check in to see if that is still the local sentiment, if any of their proposals would be of interest and if there are other facilities that the community would be interested in seeing.

Our Goal is to get the Spring/Summer Julian Guide out the first of April. This is going to be a hard deadline. Therefore, if you plan to advertise in the Guide to Julian, we need to hear from you right away.

We thank all of you who have already replied.

The Guide is a great opportunity to drive visitors to your business. Especially those businesses that are off the beaten path. The cost to advertise is more than reasonable:

Full Page 4.75” w x 7.75“ h $495

3/4 Page 4.75” w x 5.62” h $395

1/2 page 4.75” w x 3.7” h $295

1/4 page 2.32” w x 3.7” h $175

1/8 page 2.32” w x 1.84” h $95

Chamber Members get a 10% Discount on all ads 1/4page and up.

If you plan to advertise, and have not already done so, please fill out this form and get it back to us as soon as right away. You can also pick up the form at town hall, if you prefer.

January 2024 Attention, please. The Guide to Julian

Chamber and JMA Partner to Produce

Guide to Julian

The Julian Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Julian Merchants Association to assume the responsibility of producing the Guide to Julian. We thank the Julian Journal for their support during this transition.

The first issue produced by the JMA and Chamber will be the Spring/Summer 2024 issue. Our goal date for the guide to hit the streets is April 1, 2024. This goal is only obtainable with the help and cooperation of all advertisers.

Good News for Chamber Members! We are not changing the rates currently published for advertising in The Guide*. However, chamber members will receive a 10% discount on all ad sizes 1/4 page and larger. So for most of you, this means a reduced cost to advertise in The Guide to Julian.

We will print 20,000 copies of this issue. We will gauge the distribution and if necessary adjust copy number and possibly rates for the Fall/Summer issue if we run out too soon.

You can get your advertising started by downloading our advertiser form here

You may pay for your ad online as well - click here..

Patricia McConnell, member of the Julian Chamber of Commerce and owner of Julian Jewel Box has volunteered to assist us and you with your advertising investment in the Julian Guide. She will be reaching out to you soon.

We are excited to take on this project to serve our visitors and our local businesses.

Here is why it is important:

Our bylaws require a minimum number of ballots to be received in order to have a valid election. If we do not have enough votes, we'll need to start from scratch, which is expensive and time consuming.

Please take a moment to send us your ballot. If you have misplaced yours, please call Robin at the chamber (760-765-1857) and she'll get you a replacement ballot.

Change in Voting Information

The ballot states that there are 4 open board positions. As it turns out there are now 5 open board positions.

When you receive your ballot please vote for UP TO 5 candidates. This is the only change.

Thank you for participating in this important process.

Nominations for the 2024 Board of Directors

The Julian Chamber of Commerce is taking nominations for the election of the Board of Directors.

The Julian community thrives because of its amazing volunteers, and serving on the Chamber Board of Directors is a fantastic way to make a positive impact.  We need you!

There are 4 board positions open to be filled for a two-year term. The board of directors helps to guide chamber operations and makes decisions on how to best support the Julian business community. Positive and enthusiastic people with availability and a heart to serve are encouraged to run! This is a great chance to make your voice heard and propose new ideas and plans to help bring about a positive forward movement in our business community!

Submit your application for a position on the board by email ([email protected]) or in person at the Chamber office by November 19th by the end of the Chamber Board meeting at 8:00 p.m. Ballots are mailed to the membership and results are tallied and announced at the end of the December Board meeting, to be held December 16, 2023, in the private room at Heroes Wood-Fired Pizza.

Please submit a short (20-25 word) write up of why you wish to join the board and how/what your contribution might be.

You May Also Submit Your Intention via our Google Form Created Just for This Purpose. https://forms.gle/ib2Yi3ZowBhyMbjD7, follow the link to nominate yourself for the position.

Thank you so much for considering this opportunity to serve our community along with fellow board members. We are looking forward to the coming year!
